The Young Victoria's Scepter

Repairing the Scepter

The damage Specter from the film “Young Victoria”

Sir George Hayter's coronation portrait of the Queen, Wikipedia

A jewelry repair fit for a queen

While working on the crown repair for Swarovski, I was asked if I would take a look at the scepter from the film and see if I could fix it. It was damaged in shipping and beyond recognition. There were many pieces and no images to show me how the original looked like. So I just figured it.

What a challenge!

The scepter was heavily damaged in shipping - many of the parts were cracked and twisted.

I had to repair sections at a time.

Soldering would have ruined the plating and re-plating was not in the budget. Also I was not exactly sure what the base metals were and could ruin them rather quickly with the incorrect level of heat.

The components were beautifully made!

I was able to restore the parts without damaging the materials. Finding the correct materials and my using favorite metal glue, it all came together.

The completed scepter repair. A true one of a kind, hand crafted movie prop. It was my honor to repair it.

Check-out my other repair project from the same film.
