Hollywood’s Lost Treasure: The Mystery of Lombard’s 152-Carat Star Sapphire

In our view, Lombard’s "goose egg" star sapphire was the crown jewel of Hollywood’s golden era. Its current whereabouts remain a mystery, but perhaps one of our readers holds the key. Could this remarkable 152-carat star sapphire be tucked away in a private collection or locked in a bank vault, hidden from the world?

Since the spring of 2014, we’ve dedicated countless hours to researching this extraordinary gem, delving into old newspaper archives and uncovering its storied history. Below, we’ve shared some of our favorite studio portraits of Lombard adorned with her stunning star sapphire and diamond brooch. Do you know where this legendary gemstone might be today?

One day, I came across on Instagram a sale on Christies - I thought this could be a new development and a way we could learn more about the designer. The emerald setting was almost identical to Lombard’s piece.
